I was waiting in the Santiago, Chile airport to pick up a friend arriving on an international flight. Then this music video started playing on the TV in the terminal and images of the American and California flags flashed, and the L.A. beaches sparkled. It was the second time I had been trying to be immersed in Chile (or - in the case - welcoming someone to Chile) but could not avoid the omnipresence of American culture and music.
